| Complaint | During December 2006, I purchased a Scott dual suspension bicycle from Helderberg Cycle World.
The owner, Petie Viljoen, assisted me with the sale. He seemed helpful at the time but I was to learn that this was all an act.
At the time of the purchase he sold me a Thule bicycle rack for my BMW X5. He personally installed the Thule and tied my bicycle on himself. The trip to Knysna after that cost me almost a thousand rand on damages caused by the exhaust of the car melting portions of the bike.
On returning to Somerset West I confronted him with this fact and he just grinned and said he could not be held responsible. He took the Thule rack back and gave me a credit that I had to spend in his shop.
The saga continued.
He sold me liquid sealer for my tubes that was never installed. With the sale of the bicycle a free service was included. When I took the bicycle in for this service, I had to basically force and threaten them to give me new tubes with the already paid for sealant. The tubes and sealant was installed but both tubes were damaged by a screwdriver when installed so when pumped they only stay inflated for about 4 hours.
I phoned Petie and he promised to drop a new set of tubes on the next day at my office. They never arrived and I had to phone again, this time raising my voice and making some threats. He dropped the tubes and sealant at my office the next day and I thought this was over and that this mess was behind me but NO, I realized that they had stolen my brand new Scott R170 saddle bag from the bicycle.
A new saga started.... And at this stage I went to the website to see the biggest joke of the year:
http://www.helderbergcycleworld.co.za/about.php
" ..... Petie Viljoen, the owner, is a qualified mechanical engineer, and a bit of a perfectionist (!!), who loves to satisfy his customers.... "
I had to phone and SMS Petie more than 10 times and received a few promises like "I will be there tonight to drop the saddle bag” Many empty promises of "I will deliver the bag today before 17:00"
And we are still waiting..... |
