| Complaint | I recently decided to upgrade my washing machine. I contacted many different retailers - as you do in order to get the best price. In contacting House and Home, I found it extremely difficult to get hold of anyone that was willing to assist me.
The first time I called, no one answered, so I waited and called back. The second time I was cut off. So naturally I called back. Now on my third call, I was put through to Audio who said I was in the wrong department and had to get put through to electronics. So again I holded and again was cut off. The fourth call was made and the same lady answered. I asked her why she put me through to the audio department - she answered that there is no one in electronics. I told her that that was pointless as I want to buy a washing machine, not a CD player. So she put me through to customer care.
Once there, I explained the difficulity in getting a cost for a machine. The gentlman at the other end of the line was not very helpful, and was definetly not a salesman.
I eventually got a cost - but decided against buying from there as if these people battle to work a telephone and assist telephonic customers, how are they ever going to get a washing machine delievered to my house. My mother warned me against going to House and Home, as she has just bought a washing machine from there. They assured her they had stock - until they got the money, and my mother had to wait 2 weeks to get her machine.
What has happened to customer service? Sales is quite a difficult job, so I would think that when someone called with the cash to buy something from their store, trhey would be more willing to help me in purchasing one of their machines.
I have made my mind up to go to Tafelberg Furnishers in Durbanville. They were so willing to assist me in my purchase. Now if only House and Home could follow Tafelbergs sale techniques.
