| Complaint | I have had so much trouble with my Jeep. Below is an extract of my letter to Jeep, yet to ellicit a response.

Unreliable Jeep Cherokee
Sir
I have, over the past 7 years owned 3 Jeeps – all purchased new from Jeep in Century City. My current Jeep Cherokee was purchased in 2004. The 2004 model only came with a service plan of 60,000km so I extended this to 80,000km.
This year my car underwent its 84,000km service & shortly thereafter (about three weeks after the service) the engine seized, apparently as a result of a water pipe popping off the engine.
The repair on my car cost me over R 48,000 and took about 2 months to complete and after driving 192km the engine failed again (apparently a bearing gave in).
Now, after receiving the car back & after driving 1,300km since the last repair, my Jeep will not start. Jeep in Canal Walk tell me that it is probably my starter motor & that they will charge me to send a technician to attend to the matter. I find it hard to believe that the current failure is completely unrelated to the recent repairs & refuse to cover costs to repairs that are a direct result of Jeep’s faulty workmanship.
Over the past 4 months I have had the use of my own car for a period of 1 month, and the use of a courtesy car for 3 days.
My patience has run out & I am stuck with a car that is both unreliable and inadequately supported.
I hereby notify Jeep that, by close of business tomorrow, I would like:
1. An equivalent replacement vehicle that I can depend upon during holiday season;
2. My car to be towed from [my office address]
Furthermore, I would like Chrysler South Africa to undertake to the following within 7 (seven) working days:
My car to be repaired at the cost of Chrysler South Africa with the assurance that the car is properly repaired and will be reliable
or
Chrysler South Africa buy my Jeep back at the full book value.
